VTU YOUTH FESTIVAL 2000 AT DSCE, BANGALORE.

A. Nadopasana.....



Music events :


  1. Classical vocal solo ( Carnatic or Hindustani)
    • 1 participant + 2 accompainments per college.
    • Only classical pieces are to be selected.
    • No instruments will be provided.
    • Time limit: 12 - 15 minutes.

  2. Classical instrumental solo (Percussion)
    • 1 participant + 2 accompainments per college.
    • Only classical pieces are to be selected.
    • Own compositions are allowed.
    • No instruments will be provided.
    • Time limit: 12 - 15 minutes.

  3. Classical instrumental solo (Non-percussion)
    • 1 participant + 2 accompainments per college.
    • Only classical pieces are to be selected.
    • Own compositions are allowed.
    • No instruments will be provided.
    • Time limit: 12 - 15 minutes.

  4. Light vocal (Indian)
    • 1 participant + 2 accompainments per college.
    • Own compositions are allowed.
    • No instruments will be provided.
    • Time limit: 4 - 6 minutes.

  5. Western vocal solo
    • 1 participant + 2 accompainments per college.
    • Own compositions are allowed.
    • No instruments will be provided.
    • Time limit: 4 - 6 minutes.

  6. Group song (Indian)
    • 6 participants + 3 accompainments per college.
    • Own compositions are allowed.
    • No instruments will be provided.
    • Time limit: 8 - 10 minutes.

  7. Group song (Western)
    • 6 participants + 3 accompainments per college.
    • Own compositions are allowed.
    • No instruments will be provided.
    • Time limit: 8 - 10 minutes.


 

B. Natyanjali....


Dance events:


  1. Classical dance
    • 1 participant + 3 accompainments per college.
    • Recorded cassette with college identification should be submitted at the time of registration.
    • No instruments will be provided.
    • Time limit 12 - 15 minutes.

  2. Folk/Tribal dance
    • 10 participants + 5 accompainments per college.
    • Recorded cassette with college identification should be submitted at the time of registration.
    • Own compositions are allowed.
    • No instruments will be provided.
    • Time limit: 8 - 10 minutes.


C. Sahitya ranga....


Literary events:


  1. Quiz
    • 3 participants per college.
    • One team per college.
    • Written preliminaries and oral finals.
    • Other rules will be announced during the event.

  2. Elocution
    • 1 participant per college.
    • Oratory passage must be selected by the participant themselves. A copy must be given to the organizers prior to the event.
    • Participant will be evaluated on memory also.
    • Time limit: 4 - 5 minutes.

  3. Debate
    • 2 participants per college.
    • Topic will be given one day before the event.
    • Time limit: 4 - 5 minutes.


D. Ranga mantapa....


Theatre


  1. One act play (One team per college)
    • 9 participants + 3 accompainments per college.
    • One act plays only.
    • One play per college.
    • Costumes will not be provided.
    • Light and sound will be provided.
    • Time limit: 25 - 30 minutes.

  2. Skits (One team per college)
    • 6 participants + 3 accompainments per college.
    • One team per college.
    • Theme: A scene in MTV in 2010.
    • Time limit: 8 - 10 minutes.

  3. Mime (One team per college)
    • 6 participants + 2 accompainments per college.
    • Time limit: 4 - 5 minutes.

  4. Mimicry
    • 1 participant per college.
    • Mimicry of a famous personality only.
    • Time limit: 4 - 5 minutes.

  5. Mono acting
    • 1 participant per college.
    • Time limit: 4 - 5 minutes.



E. Kara kushala.....


Fine arts


  1. On the spot painting
    • 1 participant per college.
    • Only paper will be provided; accessories to be brought.
    • Time limit: 2 1/2 hours.

  2. Collage
    • 2 participants per college.
    • Materials will be provided.
    • Time limit: 2 1/2 hours.

  3. Poster making
    • 1 participant per college.
    • Paper will be provided, paints to be brought.
    • Time limit: 2 1/2 hours.

  4. Clay modelling
    • 1 participant per college.
    • Clay will be provided.
    • Time limit: 2 1/2 hours.

  5. Cartooning
    • 1 participant per college.
    • Paper will be provided.
    • Time limit: 2 1/2 hours.

  6. Rangoli
    • 1 participant per college.
    • Rangoli powder will be provided.
    • Time limit: 2 1/2 hours.

General information


  • The last date for receipt of completed registration form HAS BEEN FURTHER EXTENDED TO SATURDAY, 18TH NOVEMBER 2000. NO SPOT REGISTRATIONS, PLEASE.
  • Each participant should carry his/her identity card during the festival and produce when required.
  • Colleges need not register for all the events in each category, but at least one event from each category.
  • Participants will adhere to dignity and decorum of the festival. Any obscene and vulgarity will disqualify the college.
  • A college can send a maximum of 30 members.
  • FREE Accomodation will be available for both boy & girl outstation students at

    Our volunteers will receive you at the Bangalore Bus/railway station and guide you.The outstation participants should directly report to CYCD for accomodation.
  • The college which secures overall highest number of points will be adjudged the winners of the festival.
  • The winners of all the events in this youth festival earn the right to represent VTU at national level festival.
  • Organizers' decisions are final.
